Google Adsense may be your answer if you’ve developed a product that you want to sell online, and you’re looking for a way to get the word out about your product so you can begin making sales. There are numerous ways to do this, but many of them are slow, cumbersome, and require a lot of effort. If you want to start making sales quickly, consider this option.
Through Google Adsense, website and blog owners promote short text and image based advertisements on their sites. Typically, the ads are related to the owners’ website content, so your ads will fare best on websites and blogs that match your product.
You will compose your ads on Google Adwords, Google’s system for pay per click advertising. When you create your ads, you will choose keywords you want to target. Start by choosing a common keyword related to your product. For example, if you are selling an ebook on choosing a kayaking destination, you could choose “where to kayak”. Google Adwords will give you a list of other possible keywords, and tell you if those keywords are being heavily targeted by other marketers. Ideally, you should look for keywords that have a low level of competition, because this will help reduce how much you will pay for your advertising.
You will also select the geographic areas you want to target. For example, if you are targeting customers in the United States, you would limit your advertising to the U.S. market. Many marketers neglect to do this, and as a result, they end up wasting money advertising to people who don’t want or need their products. Using the kayaking example, it would be wasteful to show your ads to people in landlocked countries with no navigable rivers.
Writing an ad that will be effective on Google Adsense can be a tricky task. You will have a very limited number of characters to work with, so it is important to make the best use of the space you have available. Your title, for example, can only be 25 characters long, including spaces and punctuation. You will use attention grabbing text, including your primary keyword for your product, to entice people to click on your ad. A good title also serves as a filter, keeping “tire kickers” and other people who are not really interested in your product from clicking through.
You will have a total of 70 characters for the body of your ad. This is a good place to include secondary keywords. The body of your ad should accurately convey what you are offering. It is important not to embellish your product or mislead viewers in any way, because this will make people leave your sales page very quickly.
When you promote your products through Google Adsense, you will gain access to a large base of potential customers. Since you only have to pay when a visitor clicks on an ad, this can be a very effective means of jumpstarting sales and making a profit.
