The best work from home options to make a little side money is to create something that people will pay for.
There are many ways to earn money from home. But what we’ve seen from helping thousands of creators earn money at Podia is that there’s only one sure thing that works every time:
Create something that people will pay for
It’s a bit of an unfair answer because it’s been the best “secret” to making money, both online and offline, forever.
And while it’s difficult (anyone who tells you it will be is lying), online, in 2019, it’s easier than it ever has been.
Sure, you could try some ideas people suggested — drop-shipping, selling goods online, etc… there are some good ideas here! — but the simplest, cheapest and most high-margin way to make money online is to sell your expertise.
You can do this in the form of an online course, a membership subscription program, a digital download (eBook, worksheet, templates, etc…) or coaching.
You might think “I’m not an “expert”, why would anybody listen to me?”…
And you wouldn’t be alone in having this fear.
But if you’re interested enough in a topic to create a course about that topic, then you’re probably more of an expert than you think.
Think of it this way: you create a course to solve a problem for people. Even if you do two hours of online research about that problem, you will have more knowledge about that topic than the overwhelming majority of your market.
Here’s why: most people aren’t willing to put in even those couple of hours of research.
If you ask most people for a list of their challenges (something I’ve done many times in course research), they’ll happily come up with a long list.
But if you then ask them how much time they’ve actually spent researching how to solve any of those challenges — or even working to solve them — you’ll be surprised.
That creates an incredible opportunity for you to solve a problem that’s painful for your students, but that they haven’t yet taken real steps to solve for themselves. And in solving that problem, you’ll be doing them a valuable service (that they’re willing to pay for).
So in short, create something that people will pay for and sell your expertise.
